Bigger Knobs for Smaller Jobs
Engineer Martin Raynsford is always tinkering with his laser cutters and sharing the results on his blog. For a while here at Just Add Sharks we’ve been shipping our smallest laser cutter the Blacknose A3 with a custom made 3D printed height adjustment knob. Recently Martin has been experimenting and has produced a laser cut knob, which we’ll now be shipping with Blacknose cutters as standard.
He writes “I had previously made a Laser cut Knob for the Blacknose laser cutter but I’ve been using it a bit recently and there were still a few issues with it so I redesigned it. This knob is 50% longer but that’s 12mm on either side. On the top it makes it easier to grip without scraping your knuckles on the laser frame, on the bottom the knob extends beyond the square section to hold the shaft better, this makes it far less likely to slip off while in use.” You can download and make a new longer knob too the svg is here!
